The cookies on this site
caffeos.com uses two first-party cookies that don't need your consent, and two Google Analytics cookies that are only set if you accept. It doesn't use advertising cookies. Nor does it store anything in your browser's local storage, except the advisory form if you choose to open it.
nf_lang: your language
- What it stores: the language you choose (es or en), nothing else.
- What it's for: if your browser is set to another European language, the home page takes you to the English version. The cookie remembers your choice: if you press ES, the home page stops taking you to English; if you press EN, it takes you to English even if your browser is set to Spanish.
- Who sets it: this site, when you press ES or EN in the header. Netlify, the server that delivers the site, reads it to know which home page to show you.
- How long it lasts: one year.
caffeos_consent: your choice about analytics
- What it stores: whether you accepted or declined analytics in the cookie notice.
- What it's for: so I don't ask you again on every page, and so the site knows whether it may load Google Analytics.
- Who sets it: this site, when you press "Accept" or "Decline".
- How long it lasts: six months. After that I ask you again.
These two are strictly necessary to remember something you asked for, so they don't need your consent.
_ga and _ga_YTHBB3N55G: Google Analytics, only if you accept
- What they store: a random identifier that tells your browser apart from others (_ga) and the state of your visit (_ga_YTHBB3N55G). They don't store your name or your email.
- What they're for: to see which pages get read, where people come from and what kind of device they use. The privacy policy explains it.
- Who sets them: Google, through the Google Analytics script. That script only loads if you press "Accept". If you don't accept, your browser doesn't connect to Google.
- How long they last: two years, according to Google's documentation.
How to change your choice
Press "Cookies" at the bottom of any page: the notice comes back and you can accept or decline. If you go from accepting to declining, the site deletes the Google Analytics cookies from your browser. You can also delete any of these cookies at any time in your browser settings.
Fonts and forms
The site's fonts are served from the site itself, not from Google, so your browser doesn't connect to anyone else to load them. The waitlist form doesn't use cookies either.
The advisory form is built with Tally and only loads if you press the button to open it. Your browser then connects to Tally, to Google Fonts (the form's fonts) and to Sentry (Tally's error logging), and Tally stores an identifier and the state of your answers in your browser's local storage, without cookies. If you don't open it, none of this loads. The privacy policy explains it.
If this changes
If the site ever needs other cookies that aren't strictly necessary, I'll update this page first and, where needed, ask for your permission again.
